In class today we read Understanding Comics by Scott Mccloud, a graphic novelist. Pacifically we only read chapter 7 "The Six Steps" and I loved it. (fun fact reading has never been my strong point but I do love to read comics.) The Six steps are Mcclouds  creative processes which goes, Idea/Purpose, Form, Idiom ,Structure, Craft, and Surface. I found his creative processes very helpful. If I had to place myself in a position myself I would most likely  be in step 3 ,Idiom; "The "School" of art, The vocabulary of styles or gestures or subject matter the genre that the work belongs to... maybe a genre of its own" - Scott Mccloud.

Do not go gentle into that good night

Dylan Thomas1914 - 1953

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Simple things? - Asher Phillips

Simple things?

They let us out
of our structural confinements
to explore the environment
around us…
and we were blinded by its beauty
The flowers wanted to gleamed
the bright sun gave them their wishes
The Trees held hands it seemed
and the art blew kisses
Friends around to explore
friends to have forever more
as we fralicted the grass
and we walk the ways
as the Hay swayed
we swore to come back some someday
it was beauty refined
then it was almost time..
Back indoors we go
squirrels waved goodbye
runnin up the trees
statues seemed to move
maybe it was just my mind
Friends in our lines again
friends to have forever
as we walk the ways
Hay swayed
Flowers Gleamed
It was good for the moment
but everything dies
so it seems
Simple things?

Step after step
we walk reading the words on the ground
and laughing
Step after Step
we jogged seeing the trees sway in the sun kissed winds
and the flowers colors pop from green leaves which filled the air with sweet scents
Step after step
We ran to the statues that sat in place away from everyone

We sat with them and wrote all the wonders we’ve seen

QUEEEEEENER

My Lord! Brett Queener is such a beast. Instantly when I saw him I was set on being a goalie! Lacrosse has become one of my favorite sports in these few months I've been playing, and I have been Infatuated with all things Lax. The seasons starting and just for the people here at school, maybe try it out. The game is growing and growing and becoming way more popular-- God bless the Native Americans for this oh so amazing game.

Quotes.

“Prowling about the rooms, sitting down, getting up, stirring the fire, looking out the window, teasing my hair, sitting down to write, writing nothing, writing something and tearing it up…” —Charles Dickens
I love this, I don't know how many times I doddle on other things just to write something I didn't like, tore it up,and possibly throw it my sisters room hoping no one finds out. Honestly I hate my work, and I don't like talking about my self ( producing this crappy blog) Writing to me has been hard especially when I don't know what to pull out of the mess of wires I call a brain. Trying to draw inspiration from anything I can I walk and walk and don't know what to do, sometimes it feels like an idea is there then leaves my mind just to taunt me.

Self thought from the Rise(Rap)

Here are three songs The first is called G-eazy - Sad Boy, the second is Kyle ft Chance the Rapper - Remember me, and the third is Kendrick Lamar - u (God Is Gangsta). All these songs are on the same subject; looking back at your life while in your current state. All three of these rappers have their views on whats happening, in Sad boy G-eazy has made it to fame but he's not the happiest with his life because he's not valuing the thing which he wants to value, finding himself torn between his now life as an artist and his life in San Francisco the bay area. Give it a listen it's a great song.
On Kyle's side we see that on his way to fame someone of importance to him used to never be around but now that he has made it now this person want's to be there. A great example of this and one of my favorite lyrics is "Don't try to eat with me now, if you couldn't starve with me then." which really sets a great tone for me. Kyle is angry and sad, which is weird because he is known for being funny and a lucky go happy person in his song-- so when he's pissed you'll know. Overall the song is great and the Chorus preformed by Chance the rapper makes the song so much more eerie. It's a different experience for new listeners.
Finally U by Kendrick Lammar this song is just awesome. (It's seven minutes long and broken into three parts so I suggest you listen to the full thing first. ) In this song Kendrick is mad at him self for not being there for his family in friends in Compton and see himself as a failure and an insufficient leader. (This song is eerie as f*uck..."Excuse my french but i'm in France"... just look up the quote if you don't understand.) Kendrick unusual style and choice of instrumental makes it so even when there's an extreme change in flow or beat, it works and it works well really pulling you into it. Just listen too these songs, they all really are something to think about.
